Meeting Minutes – January 9, 2002

Meeting held at the Federal Center, FEMA building

 Richard Anzures, Rocky Flats, took the minutes for this meeting.  Thanks to Richard!

 1.      “In the Light of Reverence” Video –

 The video, “In the Light of Reverence” was shown.  The film is about three sacred sites and their issue with use of the sacred sites by other persons/groups/corporations.

 2.      Introductions (see attendees).

 3.      Update on AIPC revised Bylaws/Charter – Will be reviewed and sent to Larry Grandison, DFEB Executive Director.

 4.      Martin Luther King Diversity Training – Additional volunteers signed up to work the registration table.  Volunteers:  Robert Moore and Jeff Roets.

 5.      AIPC Sponsored Training

-          2002 – Larry is still working this and does agree that we can have our own training if we get funds to pay for it.  Robert Moore agreed to chair the subcommittee on Training (see item 7 below)

-          Conference call with Len Wheeler, FAA, Helena, Montana (Safety Inspector in Montana)

-          FAA NAAN (Native American Alaskan Native-name of FAA organization-75 active members) look at Denver for Training Conference in May 2003 – 5 day program which includes 3 day training, the rest of the two days is tailored to their group.

-          Need a list of motivational speaker on various Native American topics and a drum group.

-          Annual budget for training is $1,500.

6.    Denver March Pow Wow AIPC Display

-          Circulated volunteer sign-up sheet.  Volunteers needed for the Sunday, March 17, 2002.

-          Funding from agencies – update.

 

7.      Training Subcommittee – Robert Moore volunteered as chair person.

Public Outreach Subcommittee – Helen Littlejohn volunteered as chair person.

 

8.      AIPC Website Subcommittee – no update.

 

9.      Update Speakers List – Vi Rogers working with Georgia Madrid.

 

10.  AIPC Info pamphlet on Federal agency Indian Programs for Pow Wow – Done.  Anyone having agency information to hand-out for the Pow Wow, please contact Helen Littlejohn or any AIPC officer.  We appreciate receiving any hand-outs for the Pow Wow.

 

11.  Approval of last meeting’s minutes – approved by membership.

 

12.  Other issues –

-     Census has workstations to obtain census info – call Jan Jacobs 303-969-7750.

 

13.  Next quarterly meeting:

April 3, 2002.
